Zenkov Cathedral, also known as Ascension Cathedral, is located in
Almaty. This is one of the few Tsar-era buildings
to survive the 1911 earthquake, despite the fact it is built entirely of
wood and constructed without nails. It is also one of the eight most
unique wooden buildings in the world. After the revolution, it was used
as a historical museum and cultural center, but in 1990 it was given the
status of a Russian Orthodox cathedral. I attended Mass here. My visit
to this cathedral is a story in itself.

When in Amsterdam,
be sure to tour the canal by boat. The architecture is stunning! |
The Kon Tiki Raft
can be seen when visiting Oslo. It's worth trekking to Norway if you
happen to be in Sweden. I met so many interesting people on this
adventure! |
Visiting the
birthplace of Mozart in Salzburg, Austria, was one of those
unforgettable moments in time. |
Infamous Golden
Gate Bridge leads one to cosmopolitan San Francisco. My year there remains
one of my best memories. |
If you have the opportunity to visit China, be sure to spend time in

I managed to escape one very cold Canadian winter by
spending a month in
Turks & Caicos,
British West Indies. Watch the movie
Amistad, and learn a
bit about the history of these special islands.

Walking along this
beach in Middle Caicos was a daily pastime. The snorkeling was
outstanding! |
